Hello Jelmer, Can you please not use PGP signed messages to this list, not everybody has a mailer who likes this.
Now to the point, afaik we can not bundle it in the main distribution because of this, only if the library is LGPL. What you can so is contribute your extension to PEAR/PECL so that users can easily install it with "pear install smbc".
