Please note that PHP 4.2.2 does not officially support OSX (this is in the
release notes).  The current CVS HEAD does though, where a few of these
issues are fixed.

Are you sure it's enabled?  This really isn't a PHP issue but more a
linking between IMAP and SSL issue.
