That buffering code is new as of a couple of weeks ago, in response to doing something about handling mac EOL conventions, so I'm not surprised there have been a couple of teething troubles there :-/
Sascha: thanks for fixing fgets; I've removed the dont_block member of the stream ops and replaced it with a (bitfield) flag in the stream itself, as it feels tidier that way. --Wez.
