I got very similar problems for a few days. It was 100% reproducible with sets of scripts. i.e. I don't have simple script reproduce it. I don't get the problem with current CVS source now. In my case, it was obvious that program is over writing memory in somewhere - wrong zval handling, etc. Do you still get garbage from variables?
