Talk to Marko (Markonen on IRC).  His is on a more permanent connection 
than mine, plus he's in a relatively same time zone as you, which 
should make things easier ;)

Nope, I'm not.  If you remember I said I'm +1 and -1 for this.  The 
minus one being the statements said before.  I don't believe jumping 
into using PECL without a start of a secure binary distribution method 
is a wise idea.  And by start I mean an actual working template.

But I do agree that movement forward on PECL is going to need a drastic 
step (i.e. what you're suggesting).
