We still haven't fully decided about how to document PECL extensions, and there is talk of some kind of grand unified documentation system to hold the PHP manual, PEAR/PECL manual and PHP Extension Authors manual.
However, everyone has precious little time for this, so things are likely to stay as they are for a while. At least you can read the docs ATM :) --Wez.
