As a silent subscriber to this list, I'd just like to say that it's exactly this kind of assumptions that seems to be fuelling the drama of the FIG.
If his project decides to leave, it's decision should be respected. Instead of doing that, you're accusing him of making a statement. I think one of the ways to create a less confrontative and more constructive FIG is to end this trend of speculating into each other's motives.
