The FIG activity is very low volume nowadays and doesn't need much more than a mailing list. MLs, by the way, are still very much in use for open-source projects, like, exempli gratia, PHP itself, or, just to mention one, the Linux kernel. Discussions about specific FIG projects or things that need direct references to code happen on GitHub already.
