Hello All,

There is an upcoming vote scheduled for September 2024. The Voting Protocol
(https://www.php-fig.org/bylaws/voting-protocol/) and rules for Elections
and Vacancies (https://www.php-fig.org/bylaws/elections-and-vacancies/)
establish the rules for this round of voting.

The schedule will go as follows, noting that *Nomination will open
immediately*, and close on September 8, 2024:

1. 2024-08-19 21:00:00 UTC through 2024-09-08 00:00:00 UTC: Nomination
Period
2. 2024-09-08 00:00:00 UTC through 2024-09-22 00:00:00 UTC: Voting Period
3. 2024-09-29 17:00:00 UTC: Voted personnel take office

The following current terms are scheduled to end, as seen at
https://www.php-fig.org/personnel/:

2 Secretaries:
 - Alessandro Lai
 - Vacancy

4 Core Committee Members:
 - Cees-Jan Kiewiet
 - Chuck Burgess
 - Jaap van Otterdijk
 - Navarr Barnier

With the Secretary vacancy, whichever candidate receives the most votes
will be elected to the longer term.

As noted in previous voting cycles by Alessandro:

Every one having an expiring term can express their intention to run again
for election, as anyone else is welcome to throw their hat in the ring and
help us out!

*FAQ:*
Q: Who can be nominated?
A: Anyone! The secretaries of the PHP-FIG are basically administrative
clerks and community handlers. For more details, see
https://www.php-fig.org/bylaws/mission-and-structure/#secretaries
The CC members of the PHP-FIG are basically the technical steering
committee; citing the bylaw:
https://www.php-fig.org/bylaws/mission-and-structure/#the-core-committee

Q: Who can nominate?
A: Citing the bylaw: "Candidates for Secretary or the Core Committee must
be nominated/proposed by an existing Project Representative or FIG
Secretary to be considered, and must publicly accept their nomination in
order to be valid. Prospective candidates may seek nominations in any way
they see fit."

Thank you,

Mark Niebergall
PHP-FIG Secretary
