I hope you have some sort of quotes around that.

You simply cant have @ or : in the username, it violates the URL
specifications. A quick reading of your fopen would tell me to:

open a connection to 'mydomain.com' on port
'[EMAIL PROTECTED]', and send the username
'myname'.
