That sounds like a nice hint. Unfortunately there seems to be no error in the apache2 error logfile - This must have been near the time, when the strange behaviour began:

(pid 1482) ...But as I saw in the Apache2 documentation, the warning 'long lost child came home' isn't that bad and can occur time by time.
