Okay, what I am asking is this: I understand that you installed aspell from source. However, it is quite possible that aspell already existed on your machine. Slackware has a package management system. Check that to see if a|pspell is also installed that way. Basically, you may have two versions of a|pspell on your system which are conflicting with each other.
