I use apache for that sort of thing: .htaccess: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond todaysphoto.jpeg !-s RewriteRule picktodaysphoto.php "picktodaysphoto.php" selects the photo of the day, writes it as 'todaysphoto.jpeg', and then redirects to it.
