It wasn't until I got to the bottom of the read that I realized Jukka wrote it -- I've known him for many years and he knows his stuff.

I understand the concept of why not to use an empty element, which is if you want to add additional space between elements, then use css margins, or line-height, or whatever.

It's just that a <br> tag works quicker than defining a set of rules for a class.

In any event, thanks for the link -- that helped me to see that problem (as well as many others) better.
