Can you tell us what distribution you have? Some distributions already deliver PHP rpms and you just have to install additional modules. Mostly they are called php(4|5)-(extensionname). For example php5-mssql or php4-bc. Try to look into your package manager or tell us what distro you have so I can maybe do a little search for you.
