You need to add lines to the httpd.conf file and maybe edit the php.ini file. On windows, the instructions for doing this are in install.txt which is found in the directory in which PHP was installed. If doing this doesnt help (make sure you restart apache!), I'm not sure what to do as my Linux experience is limited!
