I've set up a PHP server (using Apache, MySQL and PHP module) successfully on the follwoing systems: Win98, Pentium120, 32MB Ram <-- pretty fast Win95, 486-100Mhz, 16MB Ram <-- Was speedy apart from the dodgy hard disk Win95, 486-25Mhz, 8Mb Ram <-- chugs along quite nicely as a personal web server. I think either of your two configurations would be more than sufficient as Mike has said. I've never had any serious performance problems on any hardware using PHP and Apache.
