Did you try it? I'd hate to think I've done more work to solve your problem than you have...

Even:

\$List = array( 1,2,3,4,5,6 );
\$Middle = ( count( \$List ) - 1 ) / 2;
2.5 = ( 6 - 1 ) / 2

\$median = ( \$List[ floor( \$Middle ) ] + \$List[ ceil( \$Middle ) ] ) / 2;

( \$List[ 2 ] + \$List[ 3 ] ) / 2

3.5 = 3 + 4 /2

Odd:

\$List = array( 1,2,3,4,5 );
\$Middle = ( count( \$List ) - 1 ) / 2;
2 = ( 5 - 1 ) / 2

\$median = ( \$List[ floor( \$Middle ) ] + \$List[ ceil( \$Middle ) ] ) / 2;

( \$List[ 2 ] + \$List[ 2 ] ) / 2

3 = ( 3 + 3 ) / 2

It looks like it works to me. For details see:
