i do not really know how they are working, but i'll give you some sort of a solution.
by using the 'curl' module, you can use any calls needed to any type of scripts. you can use curl to "talk" with the cgi. another option is using sockets (depends on their toolkit) and passing all the information to it. let me know if you need more help.
