--with-oci8 is the good one. used for both oracle 7 and oracle 8 (and oracle
9?). With that, you will use the php oci* functions (ocilogon, etc. See
http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.oci8.php)
--with-oracle is older, and only for oracle 7. this is for php ora*
functions (ora_logon, etc.). IMHO, you can forget them.
