[PHP-INST] make install error

[Fiasco]

I get the following error when I
make install
on for php.

apxs:Error: Unkown option: S
Usage: apxs -g -n <modname>
           apxs -q <query>...
           apxs -c blah blah blah blah more apxs stuff
make[1]: *** [install-sapi] Error 1
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
