Hi,
I am using windows 2000 with Apache 2.0.36
I have followed the whole instructions of the online manual for PHP until
compilation step.
When I tested whether the PHP works fine with a test page containing <?
phpinfo() ?> it worked without any compilation?
Then, Why do I need to compile PHP4.2? Does it unleash the whole
functionality?
However when I made changes to php.ini like asp_tags ON, it did not reflect
on the phpinfo test page. Why is that? I have restarted Apache in order to
refresh any changes, but unsuccessful.
I would be grateful if someone can help me.
Thanks,
Oral

I have exactly the same problem..
I have moved the php.ini file from systemroot (windows\system32) to php
folder and worked just fine. However I am not sure that this is the right
way of running up php, since manuals and tutorials I have read so far
directed me to move the ini file to systemroot. I dunno which to do.
If you encounter any solutions, it would be helpful if you (or anyone
reading this letter) can inform me too..
Thanks,
Oral

I've just tried to install PHP 4.2.1, upgrading from 4.1.2 (confusing
numbers I know.) After successfully building and installing with no
errors, with the following config line:
./configure --with-mysql=/usr/local --with-gettext
--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-imap=/root/imap-2001a
--with-ftp --with-gd --with-png --with-jpeg
As I said, it builds without issue, however upon restarting Apache, I
get the following:
Syntax error on line 208 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server:
/usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: sfstderr
/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start: httpd could not be
started
This was also an issue with PHP 4.2.0 when I tried to build with GD
support, however it appears PHP 4.2.1 does it even without GD. I
reverted to 4.1.2 because of this, however I would really like to get a
newer version going, even if it means going to 4.2.0 without GD support.
~ I'm running Slackware 8.0 with Glibc 2.1.
If anyone has anything to contribute, would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hey!
I have a enormous problem with my PHP.
If i make a webpage that has many tables, or has a big sourcecode, it works
just fine if its named .html. But when i rename it to .php it just reloads
and reloads and in the end i get a error message like "Error 404" in
Internet Explorer. In Netscape it just loads about 40-50% of the page
and then gets aborted...
It has to be something with my PHP settings or something... I have the same
settings as I used under my Win2k Pro system. I am using FoxServ 2.0 (which
has PHP4.0.6, Apache 1.3, MySQL 3.23)
Does anyone have a solution on this please?
