Where does phpinfo() say the php.ini file is?

>>> "omer k" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 12/28/02 20:02 PM >>>
hello,
i was running 4.3.0RC2 on a redhat (7.1) as DSO with apache2.0.43. Then
when i saw the release version was out i removed the prerelease and
compiled 4.3.0 release succesfully BUT CANT GET PHP.INI values to be picked
up even though php engine itself works. That is what ever i set in php.ini
does not change in phpinfo(). Yes i have restarted apache (apachectl
restart).

Specifically when I change output_buffering to "On" or "4096" or "1" it
simply stays as "0" (as viewed from phpinfo()) . magic_quotes_gpc cannot be
turned "Off" its stuck in "On" position. Several others options have done
the same leading me to believe that nothing in php.ini gets picked up!

Ive installed it as

./configure --with-config-file-path=/usr/local/apache2/conf/php.ini --with-a
pxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql   (got no errors)

Even when I delete php.ini I get the same for phpinfo. I have tried putting
a file at /usr/local/lib/php.ini (the default location if you had not set it
yourself) with the same result. And no I don't have a problem with php.ini
permissions as ive even tried chmod 777!

anyone has any clue?!

thanks.
omer.

I am using Mandrake Linux 8.2, and I configured and made the entire version
of 4.2.3 without any problems. Here's my configuration I used to configure

/lib --with-config-file-path=/etc --enable-magic-quotes --enable-debugger --
enable-track-vars --enable-safe-mode --with-exec-dir=/usr/bin --with-regex=s
ystem --enable-sysvsem --with-mod_charset --with-mm --enable-trans-sid --ena

penssl --with-gd --with-gdbm --with-mhash --with-mcrypt --with-zlib-dir=/us
r/local/lib --with-mysql --with-java=/usr/java --enable-force-cgi-redirect

Has anyone seen anything like this? Any suggestions??? If you need any more
information, please ask. This has got me stumped.

Thanks!

Hi there,

I'm trying to get PHP 4.3.0 compiled on a SuSE Linux 8.0 box.
./configure goes well but when I try the make command, I get the following
error message: php /usr/i486-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lstdc++, and
the installation fails. The lstdc++ is in the library libstdc, which is
under /usr/lib.

Does anyone knows how to solve this?

Thanks and cheers

Hello,

I wanted to install PHP on a FreeBSD 4.7 system.

In /usr/ports/lang/php4 I chose the following
options (those I need and the pre-checked ones)

[x] GD2
[x] zlib
[x] MySQL
[x] XML
[x] XSLT
[x] DOMXML

Unfortunately, I got an Error
checking for readline in -lreadline... no
configure: error: readline library not found
  ===>  Script "configure" failed unexpectedly.

Then, I installed readline-4.2.tar.gz from
http://cnswww.cns.cwru.edu/~chet/readline/rltop.html
with tar -zxvf readline-4.2.tar.gz, ./configure,
make and make install. No Errors occured during that
installation.

Again, I tried the FreeBSD port with
  make clean
  make distclean
  make
The readline error is still there.

It does not occur if I don't want to install GD2.
It uses gd-2.0.1_3, so I think I don't need the patch
for GD version 2.0.8. (And GD 2.0.1 already works fine
as an Apache module)

Google helped me to find a hint to use --without-readline
to get around the problem. But a make --without-readline
does not help much. Or where else should I use this option?

Some more information:
uname -v
  FreeBSD 4.7-RELEASE #0: Wed Oct 9 15:08:34 GMT 2002
  [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC
I can send the config.log or a 'ls /var/db/pkg'-dump if
needed.

Thanks for your help.

Thomas

Why don't you just use the bundled GD2 library by using --with-gd as
opposed to --with-gd=whatever ?

hi,

Windows XP, Apache 2.0.43(Win32) with PHP 4.3 can't load DLL
'php_domxml.dll'.
it pops-up: Unknown(): unable to load dll'C:\php\extensions\php_domxml.dll'
if I use the old 'php_domxml.dll' from PHP 4.2.4, it works fine. I'm using
libxml2-2.4.30, expat 1.95.4.

by the way, 'libxml2.dll' is not packed in the PHP 4.3 Windows distribution,
although it mentions that it does in the PHP documentation.

thanks in advance

Dear PHP [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I am writing to you because I am at my wit's end as to how to get PHP working on my
local machine

The main problem is that Apache isn't seeing my PHP. Whenever I try to run a
phpinfo() test file, all I get is a blank screen. When I right click within my
browser, I can view the html + the php, but apparently the PHP never sees the file.

My operating system is XP. I want (tried to) set this up so that I can develop on
my local machine, before sending files to my web site. The version of PHP that I tried
to install is the latest (php 4.3.0-win32)

I already re-named the php.ini-dist file php.ini. I also moved that file to the
c\windows directory. I also made the following changes to the Apache configuration
file :

                                Added :

                                       AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml
.html
                                       AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

This is my second attempt to install PHP. I originally downloaded what was
supposed to be a complete Integrated Development Environment from PHPDEV. I have
since deleted all those files, including complete installations of PHP and Apache, but
whenever I double click on the PHP script interpreter, I get error messages that make
reference to files that I have already deleted. So one of my questions is, WHERE can I
make changes that reflect my current installation. (I have since downloaded Apache
from their site, MYsql, and PHP from php.net)

PLease help. I am about ready to quit

Bob Teague
