Everything worked fine with php 4.2.3. In fact, I just tested our Oracle install with 4.2.3 and in compiled and installed fine. What's the trick with 4.3.1? Below is my configure statement.
./configure \ --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql \ --with-oci8=/usr/local/oracle8i \ --with-apache=../apache_1.3.27 \ --enable-track-vars \ --with-xml \ --enable-trans-sid \ --enable-sigchild \ --with-mcrypt
