i'm not a mac guy so this may be done by the php install, ...but are the
other two lines in httpd.conf. The loadModule and AddModule lines?
LoadModule php4_module libexec/libphp4.so
AddModule mod_php4.c

Turns out I was confused. The Apache server is compiled to support PHP, but you have to download and install it yourself.
