I just installed 4.3.4 on my SuSE 8.2/Apache 1.3.29 box at home using the .rpm download and it went flawlessly. It was scary, it was so easy.

The machine has 1 gig of menory and an 80 gig IDE hard drive. As you can see, the configure fails and directs me to the debug.log. I have copied the brief listing of the debug log below the attention box. This is my first attempt to install and configure php ( a proof of concept test), and the debug.log seems to be rather lacking in an error mesage that would point me in any direction. Any thoughts, comments and / or ridicule you send to me will surely be read with care. The version of Apache that is installed on the server is apache 1.3.29. Thank you, Dave Gregoire *** ATTENTION *** | | | | Something is likely to be messed up here, because the configure | | script was not able to detect a simple feature on your platform. | | This is often caused by incorrect configuration parameters.
