Just be aware that IIS is part of XP Pro only. If you're using XP Home you won't have IIS on your Windows CD. In this case, I'd reccomend going to http://httpd.apache.org and using Apache. You'll need to read their documentation to install and configure Apache with mod_php, but once it's set up you shouldn't have to touch it again. Another option is to find a cheap hosting provider that offers PHP, and set yourself up with a free domain name (or buy one for ~$10). Then just upload your scripts with FTP and viola! -Nick > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of bidskii > Sent: Tuesday, June 28, 2005 3:40 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [php-list] new to php > > > > hello every1 > > im very brand new to php and i was wondering if > there was any special > software i would need to be able to test out my php > pages. > > i am running windows xp and was told that xp does > not support PWS > (personal web server). does anyone know of anything > that might help me. > > thanks in advance. > Alex > > > > > > > > > Community email addresses: > Post message: [email protected] > Subscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > List owner: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Shortcut URL to this page: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/php-list > > > > > _____ > > YAHOO!
