function alphanumeric($text){
if (ereg("[^A-Z a-z0-9\-\']", $text)){
  $an="N";
}else{
$an="Y";
}
return $an;
}

Seems to *almost* be working...
I need to allow only
a-z
A-Z
0-9
-
'
in any order...
but my function seems to allow anything when i include the last bit
in the regex \-\'

? thanks,
riquez
