XMLHttpRequest is not server-dependent -- it's a function of the
browser, and currently almost all modern browsers support it (MSIE 5.x
on both Mac/PC have some issues, however). You have to use two
different methods of detecting and calling it depending on whether
you're dealing with MSIE browsers or Gecko/KHTML-based browsers, but
regardless of all that, the answer to your question is yes, the
function itself works fine w/Apache on Linux.
