Hello everyone, this seems like a very friendly and helpful group,
the knowledge I have of PHP could fit on the head of a pin, though I
am learning (grin), I have some php that basically goes to an
article website and grabs articles, and puts them on my website in a
format that I can use. It takes the name of the article and makes it
the name of the HTML file, it replaces the blank spaces between the
words with an underscore, that part of the code looks like this:
$href_text=str_replace(" ","_",$href_text);
What I would like to ADD to that is to also remove any charactors
that isn't reproduced well in HTML, things that may make the URL not
work such as:
! ? ( ) @ # " / \ + = . , & * - ~ `
These charactors are commonly found in the titles of the articles I
grab, right now I have to go back in and manually remove these
charactors, if I could have the code automatically remove these
charactors (actually remove them, not replace them with something
else), it would save me a great deal of time.
Any help I could get on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for your time.
Wretha
