Hi all,

I've received a complaint or two recently about excess "quotage," or
the lack of trimming a quoted message down to its essential elements,
as well as other common "netiquette" issues such as top-posting, etc.

The excess quotage issue is simple: when you quote someone else's post,
trim out all the garbage and unnecessary lines, and boil it down to the
few lines that you're referring to. It isn't necessary, for example, to
reply to someone about a script issue, and include their entire script
in the reply.

Please also remove quoted signatures, taglines, Yahoo! mail ads, etc.
from the bottom of the email -- none of that is necessary either.

As for top-posting, it's really simple: just don't do it. Scroll below
the post you're replying to, add a line or so if desired, and type your
answer. I'm guilty of it too, but it's a common enough complaint around
here that it bears repeating.

Please take a few moments to review the list etiquette rules posted at
http://www.builtforthefuture.com/php-list/etiquette.php. And if you
have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me off-list.

Best,
-Bob
