Hi, I'm new to php and I have a few questions. Here is what I'm trying to do.
On the left of the page there will be a categories link. the categories are filled from the categories table. The categories id will link to the categories field in the stockItems table. In the stockItems table, the categories field is filled with the ID number that links to the categories table. I want costumers to click on the left part of the web-page on the category that they want to go to. Then I want the page to fill the products area with the stockItems from that category. The web-page does load all the stockItems from the database. I want the categories to narrow the stockitems listed. This is key as I want there to be a starting page that uses this same kind of link. The client will rate some items as special, in the database, and they will load into the home page. I hope that I made sense. It does to me but I don't know if I made myself clear. Okay here is a quick question about databases. What is a foreign key in mySql? I think I may need one but I am unsure. Could you explain what it does? Also I heard that you need to put the database connection info in a different sheet and call to it for security. is this true? If so how do you do this? ------------------------ Yahoo!
