Personally the only way I know of is to send an email to the mobile
address. Most carriers have mobile addresses that consist of the ten
digit phone number followed by the provider domain, like so:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

You can google around to figure out which providers use which domain.
As far as sending straight SMS, it's probably not possible in PHP
without some sort of SMS backend.
