Yes, that works fine,

With the firewall off, full access is available.  I can type in 
http://server2
or
http://192.168.1.101:80
and the home page comes up.

However, obviously this is far too risky to allow.  So I switched it
back on.  

I checked the Firewall - Exceptions tab, and Apache HTTP server (and
some others such as AVGxxxx, the virus checker) are checked.  I would
have thought that this would allow the web page to appear.

Security software is simply Windows Firewall and AVG anti-virus.
