Hello members,
I am writing (as group owner) to explain perhaps
some unusual events.
A recent post that appeared to come from Nilson regarding setting up a
server and PHP on an XP platform was a spoofed e-mail from myself directly
to all members that are currently receiving e-mail in this group.
I apologise for this but I have had no other option. I especially apologise
if your name is Nelson.
Since the 4 of July, every posting member has received an ticketing system
response from agoda.com when posting to this group. This has been rectified.
When I first investigated this I discovered that there was no e-mail going
directly from this group to any address on the agoda.com domain. I then
approached Agoda to no avail. Then I approached their service provider, once
again to no avail.
This left me no option but to investigate the matter without any assistence
from the remote server. As the tickets from agoda.com does not show the
original "TO:" address I needed a way to distinguish between members.
For this reason I have sent a spoofed e-mail to every member (currently
receiving e-mail) that had a MD5 encrypted hash of the "TO:" address at the
end of the body of the e-mail. As the Agoda ticketing system returns the
body of the original message, I was able to determine what e-mail address
was being externally redirected to the agoda domain.
The responsible address was [EMAIL PROTECTED] and this
address no longer receives e-mail from this group.
If you view http://www.precisionreservation.com it seems that perhaps this
person has an issue with http://www.agoda.com
I will be taking the matter further offlist with the responsible people. For
those who may be tempted into such behaviour, let this be a warning that
perhaps a group of internet programers is a poor target for such things. We
will seek you out!
For the rest of you, please accept my apologies for posting offlist and be
assured that you e-mail address has not been released to any third parties
(as stupidly requested by Agoda).
Please feel free to comment on this offtopic in the short term. I will come
back and delete these posts from the yahoo website during the week.
Thank you, Robert.
