If youre struggling to bring all of the pieces together, you might want to look at something that bundles everything together. I was in a similar kind of boat as yourself and ended up downloading and installing WampServer: HYPERLINK "http://www.wampserver.com/en/"http://www.wampserver.com/en/
Its a fairly straight-forward install. But, if youve installed Apache/PHP/MySQL separately, you might want to consider uninstalling them first to remove any potential conflicts. Hello All, I'm new to this group and to php & mysql. I've designed sites for a couple years now. Most of what I've learned has come from really good books. Now I'm training myself with "PHP & MySQL for Dummies". This is my first "for Dummies" book and the hardest, maybe it's the subject matter. I'm a quick learner and usually I can find out anything through research so it sort of embarrassing that I have to ask this questions to your group as a finally attempt. I've never downloaded anything from a mirror site; I don't have a clue where to start once I'm at the site. For two days, I've been on the Apache site trying to find answers. Most instructions are for someone who has a clue where to start. Once I find a mirror site, I'm not sure if I should create a file on my computer and download everything into it (that would be a lot of downloading) or what . I'm operating on windows but have considered downloading Linux because I read that it has Apache and MySQL already integrated into the package. I can do this but I'm going to need to know how to download from a mirror one day and the longer I put it off the harder it will be for me to grasps the concept. So if anyone can tell me how to download/install software from a mirror site or send me in the right direction, you will be saving me from accepting that new concepts are for the young and I'm 35.
