That it's a horrible idea that should never be seriously
considered. No offense meant to anyone involved in the original
discussion, but it wouldn't be a good idea for us --- or, really, any
other completely open project. The GSoC bit is already pushing the
boundaries, but at the least is only open to students, and provides
some legitimate educational value and experience, as opposed to
turning an open source project into a job for an individual or very
small group. All that would do is discourage others from
volunteering.
