Dear list,

I've been really bad about communicating my work on the php.net beta site;
I'm sorry. This email is intended to give a vision of what I think still
needs to be done before we can go live. The responsive branch of the
php-web repository houses the work I've been doing. It's up-to-date with
everything I've done except for adding some content on the homepage; I'll
get that back up in the next day or two.

Some things that I think need to be done before going live:

   - *Go through https://wiki.php.net/web/redesign and
https://wiki.php.net/web/redesign/howtohelp* and decide what items on
there we want to implement / finish. We should also update it with other
   to-dos.
   - *Search-box needs autocomplete*. There are a host of bugs with the
previous implementation on beta php.net so I removed it. I believe Paul
Dragoonis is working on search, but I'm not 100% sure.
   - *The navigation needs some attention* because I removed the drop-down
   menu.
      - Get Involved should probably be renamed "Community" and have a page
that includes information such as latest conferences, events, ways to get
involved in the project, etc. Basically place the drop-down menu
content on
      a page.
      - The Documentation page should be restyled to better convey the
documentation areas. Perhaps split it into columns? I'm not really sure.
Maybe a new page would work better.
   - The Downloads page should list the GPG keys in the version section.
This page could use some love in general.

I think we should really try to focus on that first item. As far as I know,
there have never been clear goals for this project, so we don't really know
what should be done before we go live. We should try to solidify some
milestones and work towards launching.

Please respond to this email with goals you have for this project, and
discuss mine.

We also need keep people informed of what we are working on. As a reminder,
I am working on updating the homepage at the moment.

Cheers,

Levi Morrison
