If you want to promote AMPPS, that is fine. Trying to get links removed to competing, open source solutions, is not cool and I cannot avoid thinking this is a bit of (botched) astroturfing. XAMPP and Bitnami are two completely different stacks, with different compilation options, licenses (GPL vs Apache) and distribution methods (XAMPP includes ZIP files with the binaries, Bitnami does not. Bitnami includes VMs, XAMPP does not). The "Bitnami and XAMPP joined forces" means that after 10 years the original XAMPP maintainers wanted to move on from the project and reached out to us to help maintain the builds, update the PHP version, etc. not that the projects or the installers are the same Daniel Lopez, Bitnami cofounder, XAMPP co-maintainer ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2014-03-15 13:21:02] sidagar8 at gmail dot com Description: ------------ I was looking for a LAMP stack and downloaded XAMPP and Bitnami as your download page shows that as stacks. I learnt that XAMPP and Bitnami are now the same : http://www.apachefriends.org/blog/news-article-203924.html Your download page recommneds Bitnami and Xampp seperately while they both are the same : http://php.net/downloads.php So clubbing them into one entry for linux, one for MAC and one for windows would be good. Also I finally used the LAMP stack suggested by my webhost - AMPPS : http://ampps.com/download Your download page lists only MAC version of Ampps while there is a linux version as well which is great for development as it has Softaculous. I have used softaculous with my hosting many a times.
