That looks like an off-topic bounce to me. The PHP list mail server
rejects off-topic posts to try to keep the volume down.

I keep getting these emails, and after a few exhanges with my ISP they
are trying to say that it is nothing to do with them, but as far as I
can work out from the error message this is my ISP's mail server
bouncing messages from the list - is this right?

OK, so this "error" is just actually the system doing it's job?

Thanks,

I get boatloads of these from the PHP lists. I'm subscribed under two
different addresses (work and home) and I get them in both places. I
also run and moderate four discussion lists of my own (non-php related
but roughly 400 messages daily which do not show bounces), and I'm
subscribed to numerous other discussion lists which don't throw bounce
messages at me every day either. I just filter the PHP lists bounce
messages to the trash.

Don't know what to tell you, but you're not alone. <grin>

So, basically, the ezmlm program sends the request to the mail server,
the mail server rejects it with a bounce since it's OT, and ezmlm
sends a bounce notification to everyone........

It doesn't try to figure out what is off-topic. It simply looks at the
subject line for [OT] or [Off-Topic]

Hi,

I tried to search this group but found no answer.

My environment: win2003 server, apache 2.0.54, php 4.3.11 .

When safe_mode is off, calls to exec() go just fine. When safe_mode
is on and safe_mode_exec_dir is set properly, no success, but php says otherwise: return code is 0, no error/warning is reported, even with error_reporting(E_ALL).

I tried to: allow IUSR_MACHINENAME to exec C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe;
start Apache as an administrative account (not as 'local system account'); copy cmd.exe to C:\PHP; call cmd.exe /C exec_command ... no success. Even exchange '\' by '/' and vice versa, nothing changes.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Zagab

Hi,

sorry if this question has been posted, but my search was unsuccessful.

My environment: win2003 server, apache 2.0.54, php 4.3.11

Regarding the same simple piece of code, when safe_mode is off,
calls to exec() go just fine; when safe_mode is on and safe_mode_exec_dir is set properly,
calls to exec() do not show the expected result, but php
says otherwise: return code is 0, no error/warning is shown,
even with error_reporting(E_ALL).

I tried to allow IUSR_MACHINENAME to execute
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe, to copy cmd.exe to C:\PHP, to
start Apache not as 'local system account', to call
cmd.exe /C my_executable, to exchange '\' by '/' and
vice versa, but no success at all.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance,
Zagab

This may or may not help.

Im in the process of installing Mambo as a CMS. To get Search engine
freindly URLs Mambo needs access to .htaccess files. It needs to know
the username of Apache (Nobody or was it nobody) and mod_rewrite needs
to be in PHP. Apache needs ZLib and MySQL support compiled in.

All this is available from phpinfo() on the server. I am using a remote
host.

One of these items may be inhibiting your results. Check mod_rewrite
especially.
