Hy everybody.
I am using PHP4.01 as CGI on IIS . The OS is NT. I am trying to erase some file
using unlink() from a directory with access rights corectly set (read/write/execute).
The error message i get is "unlink() is not supported under this build of PHP" (or
something like this...). I have the corect manual for this build, and it doesn't
mention anything about not suporting the unlink() function, so i guess the error
message ie eronated :). I tried a different aproach of this situation, so i tried to
delete the file using exec() & system() and it didn't worked. I would like to know if
there is a different way to erase a file, create and remove a directory from within
PHP or i have to use a different language (lige ASP..) for this task? Thank you.

You might want to double check your unlink line...
unlink( "D:/must/use/forward/slashes.txt" );
Also, try creating a file with PHP (via upload) and then see if you can
delete it.

If you really need the WHERE clause you have to use a request with an
UPDATE.
Something like this :

include works like this: if your include_path starts with ".", any
document with an "include" in it looks in it's own directory for the
included file. if it doesn't find it, it looks for the next entry in
include_path and looks there. If it can't find it anywhere, you get
the error you're seeing.
On WIN/NT, the paths are separated by semicolons, and need to include
the drive letter. So your include_path entry should look something
like this:
include_path = ".;e:\my_include_directory\"
don't forget to use quotes. PHP is capable of including files on other
servers--see the PHP manual on "include". This will answer your
questions on what include does, and then you should understand more
about why include_path is important.

I even created a page that had no PHP, just to see if I could get it
to load
(trying to remove the chance of coding errors), but got the same
problem.
include_path is blank, though I've tried several different options of
pointing to the Web root, the PHP directory and using the "." -- all
with
the same result.
doc_root is pointed to the Web root -- \\host\share\.
user_dir is blank
extension_dir is pointed to the location on the Web server where the
extensions are located -- "c:\php4\extensions\".
I should point out that the Web files are located on a separate
machine, but
the account that WebSite runs under has rights to that location.
Honestly, I've not been able to complete understand the include_path.
Why
do I need it? What am I including?
Help on this would be greatly appreciated as the client is getting
toasted
that this is not running.

Hello friends.
I am new to php4 which I am running on an intel machine with NT4 sp6 and
IIS4.
I have 2 forms name.php and username.php When I run the name.php, and click
"submit data" button, the username.php does not appear. I have both the
files in the same directory which is c:\inetpub\wwwroot. Appears to me that
the FORM ACTION is not working and my username.php is noyt called. Can
someone please help me and advise what I am doing wrong.

You need to change your form action...
<FORM ACTION="Processform.php" METHOD=POST>
needs to become
<FORM ACTION="username.php" METHOD=POST>
OR
change username.php to Processform.php
see the problem?

Thats because the <FORM ACTION="Processform.php" METHOD=POST> will submit data
to Processform.php and NOT to username.php

The documentation at www.php.net says to compile php with the GD library to
get the graphics functions to work, and our Unix folks have done that. But
I do development on my Windows desktop. Is there a version of php.exe (v.
4.x) that has the graphics compiled into it? If so, where?

I am currently using bind 4.x on my NT 4 server with IIS. To add a new
domain, you create a new .host file with the appropriate records in it (a,
mx, etc) and then add that .host file to the named.boot file. Then you
restart the service. It seems as though it would all be easy enough except
for restarting the service. How can I do that? Normally, I do it through
the DNS program itself as opposed to the services applet under control
panel...don't know if that matters.
Does anyone have a solution for this or any other DNS servers?

I tried to repeat the problem on my machine. I am running apache 1.3.14, PHP
4.0.3pl1 and netscape 6 on win98se. First off, the module for PHP 4.0.4pl1
doesn't work on my computer at all, so I reverted to 4.0.3pl1. The same
problem occured as described when running apache and then trying to load
netscape, but did not occur when I started netscape first.

I had Apache 1.3.12 running with PHP 4.0.4 previously as a cgi. I
couldn't compile the Apache module. When there was mention of Apache
1.3.17 on this list I went and got it. Hooray! I could compile my
Apache module. Now, however, if Apache is running with the PHP module
loaded Netscape 6 will not start until Apache is shutdown. I tried
downloading PHP 4.0.4pl1 binaries from php.net, but the result is the
same. If I don't load the PHP module, everything works fine. If the
module is loaded and I try to start Netscape 6 nothing will visibly
happen, but when I shut down Apache I get an error in winoldap and
Netscape suddenly starts. I am running on Windows 95, Apache 1.3.17,
PHP 4.0.4pl1. Does anyone have any idea at all what might be causing
this bizarre problem?

I yanked this example off of the annotated manual and I'm trying to figure
out how/why one of the statements works...
The example puts all of the results from an Oracle select statement in to a
table. I can make it work, but I want to customize it. Unfortunately I
think I may just be too inexperienced to figure out what the hell is going
on... I get everything up until the second "while" statement.
Can anyone explain to me what it's doing? Would it be a bit easier to
understand if $column was renamed $row? Is that more accurate? What if I
wanted to format the data? Would something like:

work?
