I am working on a NT Workstation.. (PWS)

When trying to use the function ImageTTFBBox() or ImageTTFText() I get
the following error:

Warning: Could not find/open font in so and so page and so and so
line...

I think I have not configured my php to enable true type fonts !!

But my phpinfo() says..

GD Support enabled
GD Version 1.6.2 or higher
FreeType Support enabled
FreeType Linkage with TTF library
GIF Support enabled
PNG Support enabled
JPG Support enabled
WBMP Support enabled

Can anybody help?

How can we enable ttf support for the gd library in Windows?

Hey Ivan, I had the same problem less then 24 hours ago!

first, I think you need my submission of yesterday (5 messages down) look at
the replies.
Make sure the properties of the folder you change to are changed too.

1. The url needs to be correct

2. Make sure the path is correctly changed to the new location in the sites
properties in IIS (Site properties, virtual directory tab, local path!!)

3. Same window--> click on Configuration.... Make sure .php is in the list.

4. The permissions should be in place (IUSR_MACHINE may not have sufficient
rights to access the "new" directory!) So, Select the "Directory structure"
Tab, click on edit for Anonymous access and autentication control. The you
edit anonymous access. I personlally chose the username I use to log on to
the computer, and then allow IIS to control Password.

I think that should do the trick! At least, it did the trick for me!!

I like to hear back from you!

Is Macromedia Dreamweaver a good PHP editor?
What's the difference between this and other editors??

Rehuel

No.
You should try Homesite 4.5 or Ultradev 4.0 with the PHP extension PHAkt
(http://www.interakt.ro/phakt/)

Don't even bother with Homesite. There aren't enough
expletives (plus, this is a family list :p) to adequetly describe
how bad this software is. And don't take my word for it.
Go to Allaire's site and take a look at their support forum.
Though there are tons of problems, their basic attitude is
not to fix them but instead to tell you to return the software
for a refund if you don't like dealing with them.
Currently, I am using Homesite albeit very grudgingly.
If I could find something else that implemented projects
like HS and integrated with some sort of source control
(though, this is a lower priority; projects is of most importance),
I go to it in a second. A microsecond, in fact.

RE: [PHP-WIN] PHP EditorI'm using Homesite + the Php extensions for about a
year now and,I had some problems but nothing I couldn't work out . I'm
developing on windows for linux, and I had some problems when I was working
directly on the linux because sometimes Homesite froze (due to network
congestion) . So I begun to work locally and make deployement when nedded.
For me it worked just fine and the source control is also good.

I use UltraEdit 8 for editing PHP and Perl.

I'm using the same, but have been for the past 3 years. Every
day, I keep hoping and praying that I can find an editor that
has the features I need so I can delete this software with impunity.

> and,I had some problems but nothing I couldn't work out . I'm
> developing on windows for linux, and I had some problems when

I'm using Win98.
The main problems I'm experiencing is with memory. There is a
memory leak in this thing as big as the atlantic ocean. If I have
anything more than HS open at any one time (say my browser, for
instance to test my pages, my email client to check my mail), I
have to reboot my machine at *least* 7 or 8 times a day.
Allaire's answer to this (major) problem wasn't to fix the leak.
No, that would be too easy. Instead, in 4.5.2, what they did was
inform you when resources are critically low so you have an
opporunity to save your work before you machine crashes.
Again, don't take my word for it. Go to the Allaire support forum
on their site.

> For me it worked just fine and the source control is also good.

This is (and project managment; something every other editor
has problems implementing) is the only reason I'm staying with
Homesite.

Chris

> I use UltraEdit 8 for editing PHP and Perl.

I checked out UltraEdit. It does seem pretty cool.
It just doesn't have the features I need. :/

Chris

I am using HomeSite since version 2.5 in 1997 and never had similar
problems, but I run NT in the past and now win2000.

I use EditPlus and am really really happy with it. It is only a text based
editor, but it has full syntax highlighting (I even created a full function
list for it's syntax file), Project Management, spell checkers, it supports
regex in it's search features...I just really really like it :)

Ok -- I'll pipe in here that I've been using Homesite since version 1.0 and
I LOVE IT! I can't understand how you are having such problems, I manage
to have open 18+ programs open and ?? Netscape windows and never have
experienced a crash. I can run Photoshop, WS_FTP Pro, and Homesite all at
the same time. I open up Access, Excel, and Word all at the same time
also and never have a glitch either. Homesite is what I use even on my
lowly P75 laptop and it runs great. I would say Windows 98 or your
configuration is pooched, because it's rock solid on my NT box with 512Mb
of memory. I flip between Cold Fusion and PHP all day, so HS is a very
big help. I've tried a lot of other programs, and wanna be editors and
this still beats them all -- hands down.

Hi all,

I'm using PHP 4.0.4pl1 on windows as CGI.
I try to avoid to use register_globals = On.
In my script I use only $HTTP_*_VARS variables to access forms fields.

The problem is when I set register_globals = Off in php.ini, the session is
not working any more, loosing session variables content.

Should I consider this as a bug ?

Steph

If you disable register_globals, use $HTTP_SESSION_VARS as normal variable.
For example,

$HTTP_SESSION_VARS['counter'] = 0;
unset($HTTP_SESSION_VARS['counter'];
isset($HTTP_SESSION_VARS['counter'];

No register()/unregister()/is_registered, is required.

I have the same problem, running W2K and IIS5:
print "<HTML>\n";
 exec('LUII.exe rpc3.ingrammicro.com 058DY12 1', $returnstring, $returnvar);
 print "Return var: ".$returnvar."<BR>\n";
 print "Printing output ".count($returnstring)." lines:<BR>\n";
 print "<PRE>\n";
 while (list($line, $text) = each($returnstring))
 {
  print "$line $text<BR>\n";
 }
 print "</PRE>\n";

works fine on the commandline. In a browser no value returned at all. Even
the array stays empty (0).
Logs are clean. No errors, nothing. I'm allmost desperate.

Does any one have the file libmcrypt.lib, so I can compile the
php_mcrypt module ?

Unfortunately this file is not included with de win32 distribution of
mcrypt.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Pedro Lira

PHP ISAPI doesn't work. It has been working until 4.0.2.
When I change to 4.0.3 everything crashed. So I moved to CGI mode.
Also permanent connections don't work, at least the ones with MSSQL 7.
I'm running an intranet with about 150 hosts.
The most of this mailing list won't agree, but NT4 + IIS + PHP is an
acceptable solution.

Hey all,

I'm having a weird problem.

I'm readying a page to eventually allow file submission, but for now I've
just added the enctype="multipart/form-data" to the form declaration -- no
file input field yet.

The strange thing, is that on a small test page, hitting the submit button
works ok (see: http://leverpoint.sharkcomm.com/submit/temp.php).

However, on the real thing, it just hangs, and then just gets a DNS error
(MSIE says, "Cannot find server or DNS error").

The only difference between the two pages is that one has more hidden
fields than the other.

Here are two samples:
This DOES work:
         <input type="hidden" name="step" value="1">
         <input type="hidden" name="farstep" value="2">
         <input type="hidden" name="submitter_name" value="Mike">
         <input type="hidden" name="submitter_email" value="stuff">
         <input type="hidden" name="submitted" value="1">
         <input type="submit" name="next" value="Test this sucker"><br>

This DOESN'T work:
         <input type="hidden" name="step" value="6">
         <input type="hidden" name="farstep" value="5">
         <input type="hidden" name="submitter_name" value="1">

All I can think is that perhaps the urlencode codes of the urlencoded data
(see the submitter_email and author_email fields) is somehow tripping it
up. You wouldn't think it would just result in hanging to a DNS error though.

So, this doesn't even involve a file upload field, just the
enctype="multipart/form-data" part of the form.

Can anyone speculate at all at what might be causing this? I really
appreciate all help.
