SELECT t1.id
FROM TABLENAME t1
WHERE t1.type = ( MAX (SELECT t2.type
FROM TABLENAME t2
WHERE t2,id = t1.id ) )
I think this would do what you want.
I'm also new at this and have never used this before, so it's likely to
contain some errors but if you do a google search you should be able to fish
those out.
