I confess I have an idiological difficulty with the idea of helping out
someone who openly admits that they're going to use the information to put
even more adverts on the internet - particularly as the only thing you
appear to be "selling" is more adverts. (I do have SOME morals, you know). I
mean, I would HATE to discover that it was my fault that the internet was
covered in adverts because I'd told someone how to make them.

Personally, I find this all a bit unsavory.

Jill

Subject: [PHP-WIN] GIF handling problem...

Hi!

I'm not sure that there's a simple soulution, but here's my
problem. Please, if anyone can help me out with an idea, write here.

First, forgive my bad english, I'll try to do it as clearly as I can.

Basicly, the problem is that I want to create an animated GIF output,
where I put together an animated GIF file and a non-animated GIF
file. Now, you may ask why I want to do this? If it helps, the reason why
I want to put together the two graphic data is to create a web banner,
where the first 68x60 part of the banner is my logo, and the second 400x60
part of the banner is the company logo. They'll send a 400x60 banner via
a form, and the script has to work it up to a 468x60 banner by putting in
my logo. One half of the whole mess is that my logo's static, but the
company's logo will almost certainly be animated. The second half of the
mess is that with all the GIF support removed from PHP - and having no
administrator account on the server to patch it up - how to implement
this? I hope I was clear...

If you need to know more, just ask.

Thank you if you can throw me an idea or any clue.

Cheers!

- Levente

--- Begin Message --- 1. Gif format has a "patent" in it's compression algoritm, which is registered in several countries where such "patents" exist...
2. There is no "free" and "legal" way to do anything with gif in php if you belong to one of those countries...

So...

Before anyone can help you out, "Where are you from?", because, if one helps you to avoid the legal obligations, they will be acessory to a crime, deamed only with death penalty!

Windows 2000
IIS 5

I recently upgraded to php 4.3.1 from 4.2. Curl was working before the
upgrade. I do have the curl extension uncommented in php.ini. php_info says
that curl is enabled. I wrote a simple script to test curl.

<?
    print("Hello World");
    error_reporting(E_ALL);
    $ch = curl_init();
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL "any https site");
    $response curl_exec ($ch);
    curl_close($ch);
    print($response);
    print("GoodBye");
?>

I do not get any errors when I run the script. Simply a blank page with my
print statement. I put the print statements in to make sure the script was
running all the way through. It will display any page that is not https. I
can also insert CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, 0 and it will pull up https site. I
am tring to avoid having to use this statement because it would take some
time to go back and add this to all our shopping carts that are using curl.

Thanks for any input

Robert Smith

More information on below. I added the Curl_Verbose statement to my test
script and this is what it displayed.

 SSL: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate
verify failed* Closing connection #0
