Sometimes when I'm having a difficult problem, I compose an email to a relevant support group. I make it a very careful and precise email, explaining my platform, how to reproduce the problem, what special conditions exist, etc. I try to spend at least ten minutes writing the email, to make sure I've made things perfectly clear and understandable. Then I throw the email away, since shifting gears that way generally leads me to the solution!
