You can use anything! Date DESC (most recent first), Name (assuming that the name is in the table), Phone number... anything. It really depends on the application, what the visitor wants (or needs) to see. A sideways look at that concept - I have some applications where things are listed - hotels, businesses, etc. Some people complain that they are not at the top of the list, that their competition is higher than them. So, I take the description field, or perhaps their email address, and list the businesses in the order of the 5th letter of their email address! Because it's the 5th month of the year. Next month, the 6th month of the year, they will be in the order of 6th letter. So this month, you would be near the top of the list, as your 5th letter is '@' (which comes before all the letters). Next month you would be near the bottom, as your 6th letter is 'w'. So it is fair, and appears random to the advertisers. The purpose of this example is to say - show in any order your visitor wants! -- Pete Clark http://www.hotcosta.com http://www.spanishholidaybookings.com The PHP_mySQL group is dedicated to learn more about the PHP_mySQL web database possibilities through group learning.
