Hi John -

There is a ton of good knowledge in the archives of this forum, although
it's probably not the easiest format to parse.

Like all things, Google is probably your best friend in this situation,
and honestly, MySQL is pretty much standard SQL.
If you know standard SQL, there are only a few minor differences, and
they're mostly just MySQL being less strict about enforcing quotes and
escaping.

Anyway, there are a TON of PHP/MySQL tutorials out there. There are
also several recent posts in this forum's archive that reference great
resources. I'm not going to recant them again. Take a few minutes and
flip through the archives, you'll find a lot of good stuff. Also,
google is your friend, and there is a wealth of good information on the
subject. You should have no problem finding "MySQL Tutorial".

If you want to drop some cash, there are O'Reilly books on PHP, MySQL
and "PHP and MySQL". The Wrox Press books are also usually very good,
although I'm not sure that there's a MySQL specific book. You should be
able to find something decent on the shelf at Barnes and Noble. I
almost always go for the O'reilly books.

I haven't seen the moderator on in a while, but you're the third guy in
a week to post this exact message. It's probably time we put together
some educational resources, and maybe reference them in the forum
welcome message... or some nettiquite tips about searching the forum
first. I think Yahoo Groups has some document sharing stuff where we
could post some bookmarks.

Anyway, bear with the learning curve -- it's worth it. There's no
competition between a FreeBSD/MySQL box and MSAccess, once you learn how
to use it.
Definitely check out the MySQL manual -- there are lots of good user
comments, and the documentation is excellent.

Also, it's been my experience that most people that only know Access
don't *really* know how to put an RDBMS together well. If you don't get
concepts like database normalization and/or best-practice database
design, take the time to do the reading.
