Good morning all,

I am sure there is a way to do what I need to do, but I am clueless as
to where to begin.

I have a database full of themes and sub-themes for children's library
programs. There is a table called "themes" and a table called
"subthemes," the latter having a field for the theme_id. For example, a
theme would be "Animals," and a subtheme might be "Bears." If the id of
"Animals" is 10, then the theme_id of "Bears" is also 10 (At this point
we are assuming one subtheme to one theme). When I pull up all of the
subtheme entries, I am having them appear in a drop-down field, pulling
up the name of the theme it belongs to. So, in my example, it would
look like "Animals: Bears." There may also be "Animals: Frogs," etc.

Here's my dilemma: When I pull up the entries, it is easy enough to
order the theme alphabetically and ascending. But I then want to have
it order it the same way for subtheme. So, going back to the example,
if the subtheme "Bears" was added at a later time (and therefore has a
higher autonumber id than "Frogs"), I still want it to appear as:

Animals: Bears
Animals: Frogs

But what happens now, if the "Bears" subtheme was added after "Frogs,"
is this:

Animals: Frogs
Animals: Bears

How do I get it to do a sub-ordering of this field? TIA--Laura
