Relying on a back button to allow someone to change their responses on a
form is going to present problems for some situations. The 'back' button
is for going back one page in the browser cache, the page is not re-served
to the user agent. That is, unless there is a 'no-cache' option set on
the form page or something.

The back button functions in different ways depending on whether the form
is set to 'get' or 'post' as well.

If you eliminate any 'no-cache' or 'expires' meta tags and use a 'post'
method on the form, that should stabilize how the 'back' button works in
the form, but using php to handle all of the user changes will work much
more consistently for various user agents.
