I don't think you can. HTTP is a "stateless" protocol, meaning no  
variables are kept between pages, unless you use some language (like  
PHP) that allows you to access cookies, which track sessions, which  
is how state is managed on websites.

Is there some reason you cannot modify all your pages? You could use  
<?php include("common.php") ?> to track hits from all your pages then.
